Vessel Head Series

I lived and traveled in South American for three years, making two trips driving from Los Angeles to Argentina. I visited ancestral ruin sites in Central and South America. Most are located in rural settings so I spent considerable time with the residents. People routinely placed parcels, bushels, and pots on their heads to transport them. As I was sketching them, I replaced the heads with vessels. I have created numerous portraits of people in everyday life.
